Our 3rd Annual Ball and Gala Was a Big Success

On behalf of our Mardi Gras Indians Brothers and Sisters Association, we want to thank each and every one of you who was able to attend our 3rd Annual Ball and Gala on Saturday, September 27th, 2008. Also to U.S. Congressman William Jefferson for taking the time out of his busy schedule in making his brief appearance, we thank you, sir. The event was held at Ernie K-Doe's Mother-In-Law Lounge. The food was so very good and was provided by Cajun Seafood Restaurant.

The program opened with an excellent group, our first feature: The Family Affairs Band. Next, we were treated to poet Chuck Perkins performing with the band "The Voices of The Big Easy". Talented poets and vocalists followed: Asia Rainey, Michaela Harrison, and Margie Perez. Our program closed with Big Chief Derek Hulin of The Golden Blades Mardi Gras Indians. For those of you who could not attend, you missed a great show.

To our additional sponsors, including the New Orleans Sheriff's Department, and ReNew Our Music with Sweet Home New Orleans, there are not enough words to express our heartfelt thanks for their help, hardwork and support behind the scenes.
Once again, on behalf of our president, Ivory (Wildman) Holmes, yours truly, Dwight (Medicine Man) Carter, and our other members, we are grateful to our sponsors who took part in our organization's continued success. It is in our plans to show appreciation, we would like to give something back: check our website for time and date.
